The “picturesque” Northeastern route

(Start: Livadi)

Starting from Livadi you can follow the coastal route till the other side of the bay and the beach of Avlomonas, where you will turn left right before the end. This road is heading northeast, it goes uphill after 700 meters but then descends again, meeting to the right…

…the small road that leads to the beaches of Lia and Agios Sostis. About 850 meters later, once the road starts to noticeably descend, you will find yourselves at the Dam of Serifos, which stands on your left. At the end of the downhill you will pass over Psili Ammos beach, which borders…

Ai Giannis, 500 meters further. The deep blue of the Aegean will remain on your right along the way and will become one with a deep green strip of dense vegetation, about 4,5 km further…

…at the village of Kallitsos. The narrow dirt road that you will see 1 km before you enter the village, leads to a lower point, passes by the dovecots and some old buildings, but stops in a dead-end. A similar but more passable and shorter road, you will meet 1 km later, which goes down to Panagia Skopiani church that you will see on the right. If you decide to visit the church, stand on the small yard, right before the stairs of the church and enjoy the magnificent view towards the beaches of Platis Gialos. To see them all up-close, you will continue on the central road for another 1,2 km and then…

…as you reach the central junction, with the lovely chapel of Agios Minas standing nearby, you will turn right. Then, after descending for two kilometers, you will arrive to Platis Gialos with its three beautiful beaches, one of which hides rightmost and requires a short walk to reach. As you return to the central junction, you will turn right. Quite soon you will meet the exquisite Monastery of Taxiarches and the village of Galani, right after. There follows the abandoned Pirgos settlement 3 km further, on the road’s turn, while a few meters away…

…the road forks again. It descends for 4 km, till Sikamia beach, while as you return it goes straight to the picturesque village of Panagia and the famous “Xylopanagia” church, which you will reach...

…if you go right to the next fork. From here you will follow the road to Livadi, turning left to the junction that you will meet 3 km ahead. This road leads to…
