Kerameio

The fascination of handcrafted ceramics

Located on the main road from the port to Chora, in Kato Chora, KERAMEIO Ceramic Studio showcases original handmade ceramics in an amazing facility, offering also breathtaking views to Kato Chora, the port and the Aegean Sea.
In KERAMEIO Shop fans of the ceramic art will find collections of traditional and contemporary Greek ceramists and get in touch with the earthy charm of handcrafted ceramics, making them part of their everyday life!
In the premises there is also the KN Ceramics’s Workshop, where Natasa Kalogeropoulou creates her ceramic collections inspired by the layered landscapes and sea-washed coasts of Serifos. Her hand-made stoneware pieces are characterized by curved lines and simple forms, including pieces that you can wear, use, or decorate with.

Natasa Kalogeropoulou comes from the field of business where she worked in marketing and HR departments. Looking for a way to change her life and leave Athens, she attended pottery seminars and fell in love with clay from the first touch. Since then, she has taken many courses and seminars in the fields of form, sculpture, decoration technique, as well as in glazing techniques - hence she makes her own.
In 2014 she came to the island and created Kerameio. Serifos constantly inspires her with its unique energy, history, mining past, Chora with its great architecture and the beaches with turquoise waters. In her handmade utilitarian ceramics which are made from high temperature stoneware 1240C clay and in her sculptures, she draws inspiration from the Aegean nature and architecture where there are no strict lines, but imperfections and curved shapes.
In addition to her own works, she hosts Kerameio selected ceramics by other creators. Natasa Kalogeropoulou also believes in experimentation and exploration. That is why, among other artists such as the painters Eleni Kanellopoulou and Vangelis Agnantopoulos, she collaborated with the talented ceramist Giorgos Vavatsis who combined clay with rocks from the mines of Serifos.

Kerameio is part of Think of Serifos, a creative collection of art, clothing and objects inspired by the island. This also includes the concept store THETA created by the sisters Yuta and Natasa Kalogeropoulou in the port of Serifos: it is a uniquely designed space that introduces the contemporary artistic “face” of Greece through collections of Greek and foreign designers and creators.
Also a part of Think of Serifos is Fe, the jewelry store/workshop created by Nora Jo and Angelos Papadopoulos featuring classic and contemporary handmade jewelry from renowned Greek designers and creations of the owner named Nora Jo.

Art Lab Gallery is another initiative of the Think of Serifos team. It was inaugurated in June 2024 and is a small cultural center in the port of Serifos, on the beach of Avlomonas. It will operate all year round, organizing exhibitions and offering artistic activities such as painting, ceramics and photography workshops, to locals and visitors, adults and children. For the children, in July and August there will be pottery classes with the visual artist Loukia Dragatsi and theatrical games with the teacher Kalliopi Perri.

From July 7th to August 25th, Kerameio will organize at Art Lab the first large group exhibition based on a much more original idea. Its title is "Lithosphere" and the subtitle "Serifos the Pontoporus Gaia".
With reference to the mining past of Serifos, whose ores traveled all over the world, the team of Kerameio made 21 cases containing bags with selections of sand, soil and rock from different areas of the island, as well as gravel from places where the mining galleries of the mines started. Then, she mailed the cases to 21 ceramicists asking them to incorporate the materials however they desired into a work of their own that will be exhibited in the Lithosphere exhibit at the Art Lab Gallery.
