Mythology
Serifos is associated with significant characters and monsters of the Greek mythology.
According to a regional version of Homer’s Epic Odyssey, Odysseus (Ulysses) and his companions confronted the Cyclops Polyphemus, on the southwestern part of the island.
The myth of Perseus and Medusa also took place in Serifos, while the “Frog of Serifos” used to be one of the most popular ancient Greek proverbs.
