Lighthouse

Distance from Chora: 9,8 km
Distance from Livadi: 5,3 km

In Cape “Spathi”, on the south edge of the island, about 60 meters above the sea, stands the Lighthouse of Serifos. It is a particularly beautiful construction made of stone, built in 1900, with a small surrounding patio – a balcony over the Aegean. The Lighthouse has several interior spaces (hall, kitchen, bedrooms and a toilet) and is fully equipped with furniture and home appliances.

It belongs to the Greek Navy, which takes care of the building’s maintenance, as well as of the mechanism located on the roof. It is fully automated, as most of the lighthouses, but usually 2 weeks each month it houses a naval officer, who serves as a lighthouse keeper.

During the summer time it operates as a resort for naval officers, who come here with their families and stay for ten days – on that period they serve as lighthouse keepers.

Although it is located close to Livadi of Serifos, its access often hides some tricky parts, especially on the last stretch of the road that leads to the Lighthouse. In case you cannot access it with your vehicle, do not hesitate to park at the side of the road and cover the last 900 meters on foot.
